The Lafayette County Circuit Clerk’s Office<\/strong> has officially declared Mary Martha Crowe<\/strong> the winner of Oxford’s Alderman-At-Large Special Election. Circuit Clerk Jeff Busby<\/strong> was required by law to wait five days after election day to declare the winner, due to outstanding absentee ballots in the mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The special election took place on Tuesday, February 6, 2024<\/strong>, to elect a new\u00a0Alderman-At-Large<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Oxford<\/strong>. The seat was vacated in December after\u00a0former Alderman-At-Large John Morgan<\/strong>\u00a0was elected Lafayette County Supervisor<\/strong> of District 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three candidates qualified for the special election, Oxford-Lafayette\u00a0Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>\u00a0Chairman\u00a0Jason Plunk<\/strong>, owner of\u00a0Bullseye 95.5 FM<\/strong>,\u00a0Alpha Transport<\/strong>, and\u00a0Hotty Toddy Wedding Cars<\/strong>, Oxford realtor and appraiser\u00a0Brad Feltenstein<\/strong>, owner of\u00a0Appraisers Associated of Oxford, Inc<\/strong>. and\u00a0Feltenstein Realty Group<\/strong>, and\u00a0Mary Martha Crowe<\/strong>, Assistant Principal at\u00a0Della Davidson Elementary School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official and final results showed Crowe received 1,154 votes, Feltenstein received 434 votes, and Plunk received 160 votes. Oxford had a total of 14,587 registered voters eligible to vote in the special election but only 1,748 votes were cast, which means only 12% of voters participated in the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mary Martha Crowe will be sworn in February 20, 2024 at the next City of Oxford<\/strong> Board of Aldermen<\/strong> meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
