GRAMMY Museum\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0Mississippi<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has announced a slate of events to celebrate\u00a0GRAMMY\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0Week 2024<\/strong>, beginning\u00a0Wednesday, January 31<\/strong>, and leading up to the\u00a066th Annual GRAMMY Awards\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0on\u00a0Sunday, February 4. The week of events will feature an education program with Queen of Memphis Soul,\u00a0Carla Thomas<\/strong>\u00a0on February 1; plus a\u00a0GRAMMY Trivia night at Hey Joe\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0in Cleveland, Mississippi<\/strong>, on January 31; the return of the annual\u00a0Kids Rock the Red Carpet<\/strong>\u00a0event on February 2, and more. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGRAMMY season is our favorite time of the year, and we can\u2019t wait to welcome our community to GRAMMY Museum Mississippi for a week of events in celebration of the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards,\u201d said Emily Havens<\/strong>, Executive Director of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi. \u201cIt is sure to be an exciting week full of special events to celebrate of the storied GRAMMY Awards ceremony.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A full programming schedule is below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, January 31<\/strong>
8 pm: GRAMMY Trivia night at Hey Joe\u2019s Burgers + Beer\u00a0(118 E Sunflower Road, Cleveland, MS 38732)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, February 1\u00a0<\/strong>
10 am: Backstage Pass: Carla Thomas (free education workshop)\u00a0
7 pm: Spotlight: Carla Thomas\u00a0(FREE\u00a0for Museum Members and $15\u00a0for non-members)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A native of Memphis, Carla Thomas<\/strong> is an American singer considered the \u201cQueen of Memphis Soul.\u201d The daughter of Memphis musician and entertainer Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas holds the distinction as being one of the first artists to cut a record at Stax Records. At age 17, she recorded \u201cCause I Love You\u201d with her father, which became a regional hit and changed the course of music history. She became a national sensation with the 1960 release of her hit \u201cGee Whiz (Look At His Eyes),\u201d which she wrote at the age of 16. More hits followed, including her duet album with Otis Redding,\u00a0King and Queen<\/em>. Today, Carla Thomas remains one of the most lauded icons of soul music, but rarely performs. In 2007, Concord Records released\u00a0Live at the Bohemian Caverns<\/em>, which many consider her finest album. It was recorded live in the prestigious Washington, D.C. jazz club in a performance arranged by then-Stax president Al Bell and soul legend Donny Hathaway. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday, February 2\u00a0<\/strong>
6 pm: Kids Rock the Red Carpet\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kids Rock the Red Carpet<\/strong> event provides children 12 and under the opportunity to join in the excitement of GRAMMY Week. The event will take place on Friday from 6\u20138 pm and will begin with the opportunity for kids to walk the red carpet and be photographed by the \u201cpaparazzi,\u201d an opportunity to sing along to GRAMMY-winning and -nominated songs during karaoke, the chance to tour the Museum\u2019s exhibits, and much more. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets are $15 for kids 12 and under and $10 for adults. Food and beverage are included in the price of admission, and rock star apparel is highly encouraged. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased at grammymuseumms.org<\/a> or by calling the Museum Box Office at 662.441.0100. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
