{"id":135878,"date":"2024-01-11T07:16:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T13:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=135878"},"modified":"2024-01-10T20:26:18","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T02:26:18","slug":"special-election-february-6-for-alderman-at-large-in-oxford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/special-election-february-6-for-alderman-at-large-in-oxford\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Election February 6 for Alderman-At-Large in Oxford"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Local candidates have until 5 pm January 17 to qualify.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Lafayette County Circuit Clerk<\/strong>\u2019s office will oversee a special election <strong>Tuesday, February 6, 2024<\/strong>, to elect a new <strong>Alderman-At-Large<\/strong> in<strong> Oxford<\/strong>. The seat was vacated in December after <strong>John Morgan<\/strong> was elected Lafayette County Supervisor of District 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, three candidates have qualified for the position, Oxford-Lafayette<strong> Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> Chairman <strong>Jason Plunk<\/strong>, owner of <strong>Bullseye 95.5 FM<\/strong>, <strong>Alpha Transport<\/strong>, and <strong>Hotty Toddy Wedding Cars<\/strong>, Oxford realtor and apprasier <strong>Brad Feltenstein<\/strong>, owner of <strong>Appraisers Associated of Oxford, Inc<\/strong>. and <strong>Feltenstein Realty Group<\/strong>, and <strong>Mary Martha Crowe<\/strong>, Assistant Principal at <strong>Della Davidson Elementary School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional candidates have until 5 pm Wednesday, January 17 to qualify for the elction. Each candidate must qualify by filling out a petition with the Circuit Clerk that must be signed by at least fifty registered voters. Qualified voters can sign more than one petition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nonpartisan special election will take place at the <strong>Oxford Conference Center<\/strong>.
