{"id":134283,"date":"2023-11-06T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T14:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=134283"},"modified":"2023-11-04T13:31:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-04T18:31:31","slug":"oxford-chamber-of-commerce-makes-plans-and-call-for-2024-leadership-lafayette-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/oxford-chamber-of-commerce-makes-plans-and-call-for-2024-leadership-lafayette-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Oxford Chamber of Commerce Makes Plans and Call for 2024 Leadership Lafayette Program\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Deadline is Friday, November 17, 2023\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Emerging community leaders of <strong>Oxford <\/strong>and <strong>Lafayette County<\/strong> have an\u00a0 opportunity to participate in the annual <strong>Leadership Lafayette<\/strong> program presented by the Oxford\u00a0Lafayette <strong>Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eight-month program, beginning in January 2024, is a series of training sessions and\u00a0 activities, designed for emerging community leaders. It is intended to assure the continuity of\u00a0leadership in <strong>Lafayette-Oxford-University<\/strong> community and assist already established\u00a0 community leaders, who are seeking more effective ways to contribute to the community. In\u00a0addition to the monthly sessions, class members also participate in a community based\u00a0 project.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLeadership Lafayette is a great opportunity for community leaders to engage in their\u00a0community through leadership training, community learning, group projects and networking.\u00a0Each session is coordinated by a small group of alumni of the program who put considerable\u00a0 thought into making each year the best it can be,\u201d said <strong>Pam Swain<\/strong>, CEO\/President and\u00a0Leadership Lafayette Director.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0The objectives of the program include identifying potential community leaders, developing\u00a0 individual leadership potential, acquiring knowledge about community and current issues in Lafayette County, creating dialogue and rapport among participants and current leaders, and\u00a0promoting a sense of &#8220;community&#8221; through shared efforts benefiting the local community.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each month involves one full day session from 8:30 am to 5 pm. These sessions are\u00a0packed with information about Oxford and Lafayette County and the needs of the community.\u00a0 Participants will acquire knowledge about current issues that surround them, as well as focused leadership training.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leadership Lafayette participants will be selected by a steering committee on the basis of completed applications received by Friday, November 17, 2023. Preference will be given to\u00a0candidates who, in addition to their potential for leadership, would contribute to the overall diversity and strength of the class and have available time to commit to the program and future\u00a0community service. Program participation is limited to 25.
