If the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour<\/strong> were a sports team, it would be peaking at the right time. With just three shows to go\u2014beginning Thursday, November 2, at 6 pm at The Lyric Oxford<\/strong>\u2014the long-running broadcast is going out with a bang of all-stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guests Thursday, November 2, include artist William Dunlap<\/strong> and former NBC-TV journalist, Luke Russert<\/strong>. Russert\u2019s new memoir, Look for Me There<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em> recounts his three-year trip around the world as he dealt with the sudden death of his father, Tim Russert<\/strong> of NBC News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dunlap contributes to the new art book, American Landscapes<\/strong>, <\/em>along with artists Le Francis<\/strong> and Rick Gruber<\/strong>. The book is co-edited by Oxford\u2019s Ann Abadie<\/strong> who will be in attendance. Both books will be available Thursday at The Lyric for sale and signing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musical guests for the November 2 show will include Sharde Thomas<\/strong> and Chris Mallory<\/strong> of The Rising Stars Fife & Drum Band<\/strong> and songwriter Andrew Bryant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, Thursday, November 11, Grammy-winning bluesman Cedric Burnside<\/strong>, country musician Steve Azar<\/strong>, and Oxford artist Sarah Frances Hardy<\/strong> will appear on the show at The Powerhouse Arts Center<\/strong> at 6 pm. Doors are 5:30 pm, and refreshments will be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The season finale, also at The Powerhouse, Thursday, November 16, at 6 pm will feature author Jayne Ann Phillips<\/strong> with musical guests Afrissippi<\/strong> and songwriter Charlie Mars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All shows are hosted by Jim Dees<\/strong> and house band The Yalobushwhackers<\/strong> and are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekly broadcast can be heard on 92.1 FM WUMS<\/strong> Thursdays at 6 pm in Oxford, and Saturdays at 7 pm on Mississippi Public Broadcasting<\/strong>, and on a variety of online platforms.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final Thacker event of the year comes on Friday, December 1, from 6\u20138:30 pm at Southside Gallery<\/strong> with the show\u2019s much-anticipated Holiday Membership Party<\/strong>. The annual gala includes a unique silent auction, local catering, a signature cocktail, plus holiday favorites performed by The Yalobushwhackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
