\"Grille<\/a>I\u2019ve never really been a huge Sunday partier. I\u2019ve missed out on countless backyard bar-b-ques and potlucks in favor of resting and catching up on housework and TV. But for the last few weeks, I\u2019ve ventured out in support of our new (and long-awaited) full-service Sundays in Oxford, and I think I\u2019ve become a \u201cSunday Funday\u201d convert.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several local spots have been opening their kitchens on Sundays all along, such as Proud Larry\u2019s<\/strong>, Soulshine<\/strong>, Old Venice<\/strong>, and Rib Cage<\/strong>, among others. But now, the Sunday brunch and lunch options are even more varied, and patrons may enjoy a Bloody Mary, Mimosa, cold beer, or their favorite alcoholic beverage if they so choose.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"CG<\/a>With the new options available on Sundays, there\u2019s bound to be something for just about anyone. If you\u2019re a fan of breakfast, be aware that brunch ends between 2 and 3 pm, so if you are a late sleeper or just getting out of church, you\u2019ll need to get there early. In my experience there haven\u2019t been huge crowds, but you just never know, and I\u2019d even go as far as to recommend reservations if you\u2019re thinking of brunching the day after Double Decker<\/strong>. I\u2019ve still got some more rounds to make in the upcoming weeks in order to sample all the luscious selections, but here\u2019s a starter to get you salivating.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t miss the grubalicious new Hill Country Gospel Brunch<\/strong> at City Grocery<\/strong>. I highly recommend the Monkey Bread, which is gooey, sweet, sticky, and irresistable. Other primo plates include the Arugula Salad, served with Beef Tartare and a Quail Egg, sandwiches, and a Chicken Stew. Seriously, you will be in pie-hole heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although they have been serving their brunch menu for a while now, Oxford Grille\"CG<\/a>house<\/strong> has introduced a gulp-worthy \u201cBuild Your Own Bloody Mary or Mimosa Bar,\u201d and it really is something special. For the mimosa, your server or bartender will provide you with a glass of champagne and direct you to an inviting table where cut fruit and berries await you. Top it off with one of the fresh fruit pur\u00e9es et voila! you have your very own creation to accompany your Grillehouse meal of Eggs Benedict or Chicken & Waffles.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"grille<\/a>Around the corner, Tre Amici<\/strong> is serving up some Steak n\u2019 Eggs as well as some bountiful omelets, biscuits and gravy, and of course French Toast. Wash it all down with a $4 Mimosa or a sweet Bellini.<\/span><\/p>\n

Newcomer-to-the-Square Locals<\/strong> has gotten in on the brunch fun as well, and their Shrimp & Grits is heaven on a plate. Try some of their unique Sweet Potato Biscuits and you have yourself a bona-fide taste fiesta.<\/span><\/p>\n

So try out a Sunday Funday now and then. And be extra nice to the service workers who are taking care of you!<\/span><\/p>\n
