{"id":133107,"date":"2023-10-05T10:02:27","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T15:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=133107"},"modified":"2023-10-05T10:02:30","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T15:02:30","slug":"a-perfect-pairing-city-grocery-dakota-shy-winery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/a-perfect-pairing-city-grocery-dakota-shy-winery\/","title":{"rendered":"A Perfect Pairing: City Grocery &#038; Dakota Shy Winery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The iconic dining room at <strong>City Grocery<\/strong> on the <strong>Oxford Square<\/strong> recently hosted <strong>Napa Valley<\/strong> winery <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dakotashywine.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dakotashywine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dakota Shy<\/a><\/strong> for a special six-course wine dinner with dishes created by City Grocery\u2019s talented chef de cuisine, <strong>Eric Tait<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Dakota Shy co-founder <strong>Todd Newman<\/strong> met City Grocery founder and restauranteur <strong>John Currence<\/strong> fifteen years ago when they were both featured at the Destin Food &amp; Wine, and they have wanted to collaborate ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Dakota Shy is known specifically for their critically acclaimed Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and the four wines featured at the September 27 dinner ranged from a Ros\u00e9 of Cabernet to three full-bodied cabernet sauvignons. Chef Eric Tait rose to the challenge of pairing dishes that were both appropriate for the depth of the wines\u2019 characteristics and seasonally selected to highlight an early fall palette of mostly robust, savory flavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Vintner Todd Newman was on hand to greet diners and spent his time at tables talking to guests thoughout the evening. In additon, advanced sommelier <strong>Mark Warren <\/strong>attended the dinner to respresent Ridgeland-based <strong>Pilar Wine Brokers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Look for more special events in the future from City Grocery and Pilar. You can find Dakota Shy wines on the menus at City Grocery, <strong>Snackbar<\/strong>, and <strong>Saint Leo<\/strong>, as well as at <strong>Kiame Package Store<\/strong> and <strong>High Cotton Wine &amp; Spirits Warehouse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">City Grocery\u2019s dining room is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, and the upstairs bar is open with a lively Happy Hour and tasty pub menu (the muffaletta is a personal favorite).
