About the Authors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rick Cleveland<\/strong>, a native of Hattiesburg <\/strong>and resident of Jackson<\/strong>, has been Mississippi Today\u2019<\/em>s sports columnist since 2016. A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi<\/strong> with a bachelor\u2019s in journalism, Rick has worked for the Monroe<\/em> News Star World<\/em>, Jackson Daily News<\/em><\/strong>, and Clarion Ledger<\/strong><\/em>. He was sports editor of Hattiesburg American<\/em><\/strong>, and executive director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame<\/strong>. His work as a syndicated columnist and celebrated sportswriter has appeared in numerous magazines, periodicals, and newspapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rick has been recognized 14 times as Mississippi Sportswriter of the Year <\/strong>(his first was in 1973 at age 20; his fourteenth fifty years later in 2023). He is also the recipient of multiple awards and honors for his reporting and writing.

Neil White<\/strong> lives in Oxford <\/strong>where he operates Nautilus Publishing<\/strong>, writes essays, and teaches memoir writing. His New York Times<\/em> bestselling memoir, In the Sanctuary of Outcasts<\/em> (Morrow\/HarperCollins<\/strong>), garnered critical acclaim.
