They fall in love. Others fall out of love. They plan their futures together. Others no longer see a future together. There\u2019s joy and there\u2019s heartbreak in Almost, Maine, and it\u2019s the humanity of their stories that has made<strong> John Cariani<\/strong>\u2019s play <strong><em>Almost, Maine<\/em><\/strong> one of the most popular on stages across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Theatre Oxford will present Almost, Maine at <strong>The Powerhouse <\/strong>for one night, <strong>Saturday, August 5, at 7:30 pm<\/strong>. Directed by <strong>Jules Mikell <\/strong>and co-produced by the <strong>Yoknapatawpha Arts Council<\/strong>, <em>Almost, Maine<\/em> is actually a series of vignettes about relationships across the mythical town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Since its premiere at the <strong>Portland Stage Company<\/strong> in 2004, <em>Almost, Maine<\/em> has proven so popular that theatre companies across the nation have staged productions. The <strong>American National Theatre<\/strong> selected it as one of the most outstanding regional theatre productions of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cFor every scene that has heartbreak, there\u2019s another scene that inspires hope that the right person is just around the corner, or maybe has been there the whole time,\u201d director Mikell said about the play. \u201cAlmost, Maine takes a town and breaks it down to show the intricate and sometimes complicated lives of the individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Theatre Oxford production is free to the public, but seats are limited.
