{"id":127763,"date":"2023-04-06T07:47:46","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T12:47:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=127763"},"modified":"2023-04-06T07:47:48","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T12:47:48","slug":"rust-college-student-killed-in-oxford-mississippi-automobile-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/rust-college-student-killed-in-oxford-mississippi-automobile-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"Rust College Student Killed in Oxford, Mississippi Automobile Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A <strong>Rust College<\/strong> student was killed in a crash in <strong>Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong> early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police say officers responded to a single vehicle rollover accident on <strong>Gertrude Ford<\/strong> by <strong>Old Taylor Road<\/strong> at 1:16 am Sunday, April 2, 2023..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mayanity Alridge<\/strong>, 20, of <strong>Bay Springs, Mississippi<\/strong> was pronounced dead at <strong>Baptist Memorial Hospital<\/strong>. Another passenger was taken to the hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rust College confirmed that Alridge was a student in a statement Sunday. She was a junior Biology major, member of the softball team, and was initiated into the <strong>Theta Upsilon Chapter<\/strong> of <strong>Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe again express our sincere condolences to Mayanity\u2019s family and friends and ask that we keep all of them in our thoughts and prayers.
