Admission is free and the public is invited.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other guests will include <strong>Alabama<\/strong> country singer<strong> Jon Byrd <\/strong>and Delta bluesman <strong>Sean \u201cBad\u201d Apple<\/strong>. Hosts of the show are <strong>Jim Dees<\/strong> and house band, <strong>The Yalobushwhackers<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program will be broadcast locally on WUMS 92.1 FM and online: <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineradiobox.com\/us\/wums\/.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/onlineradiobox.com\/us\/wums\/.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday\u2019s show will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the<strong> Oxford Film Festival<\/strong>, which runs from Wednesday, March 1 through Sunday, March 5. (No film pass is required for the Thacker show).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A full schedule of films, parties, and events connected with the film festival is available at the festival\u2019s website: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ox-film.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.ox-film.com\/<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DavidS.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"481\" height=\"631\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DavidS.jpeg?resize=481%2C631\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-126957\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DavidS.jpeg?w=481&amp;ssl=1 481w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DavidS.jpeg?resize=229%2C300&amp;ssl=1 229w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Screenwriter David Sheffield is a <strong>Biloxi, Mississippi<\/strong>, native, who was living in <strong>Ocean Springs, Mississippi<\/strong>, in 1980 when he was hired (after a series of improbable long-shots) to write for <em>Saturday Night Live.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There, he co-wrote classic sketches for a young <strong>Eddie Murphy<\/strong> that led to a 40-year association with Murphy and co-writer <strong>Barry Blaustein<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield\u2019s screen credits include several Murphy vehicles including the 2021 Netflix hit, <strong><em>Coming 2 America<\/em> <\/strong>as well as the 1988 original, <em><strong>Coming to America<\/strong><\/em>, and Murphy\u2019s<strong> <em>The Nutty Professor<\/em> <\/strong>and <em><strong>The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield\u2019s most recent project is a play he wrote and produced, <em><strong>The Heartbreak Henry<\/strong><\/em>, based on his hilarious experiences managing the old Henry Hotel in Oxford in 1967 when he was just 19-years-old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 25-minute documentary about the making of the play, <em><strong>The Heartbreak Henry: The Show Must Go On<\/strong><\/em>, will screen Friday, March 3 at 3:45 pm at <strong>Malco Commons<\/strong> during the Oxford Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Jon-Byrd-2021-edit.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"267\" height=\"288\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Jon-Byrd-2021-edit.jpg?resize=267%2C288\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-126958\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Country twangster <strong>Jon Byrd<\/strong>, from <strong>Birmingham Alabama<\/strong>, will also be featured on Thursday\u2019s show. Byrd quickly made a name for himself in Nashville with his 2007 album, <strong><em>Byrd\u2019s Auto Parts<\/em>. <em>Mojo Magazine<\/em> <\/strong>proclaimed the album is, \u201cAmericana the way it was and the way it should be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bluesman <strong>Sean \u201cBad\u201d Apple <\/strong>has been a longtime mainstay in the <strong>Clarksdale, Mississippi<\/strong>, blues scene. The show will be off for spring break on Thursday, March 16.
