{"id":125861,"date":"2023-01-22T11:54:53","date_gmt":"2023-01-22T17:54:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=125861"},"modified":"2023-01-22T11:54:55","modified_gmt":"2023-01-22T17:54:55","slug":"inmate-dies-inside-the-lafayette-county-detention-center-in-oxford-mississippi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/inmate-dies-inside-the-lafayette-county-detention-center-in-oxford-mississippi\/","title":{"rendered":"Inmate Dies Inside the Lafayette County Detention Center in Oxford, Mississippi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Tuesday, January 16, 2023, at approximately 5:37 pm, deputies assigned to the <strong>Lafayette County Detention Center<\/strong>, located at 711 Jackson Avenue in <strong>Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>, were called to the cell of an unresponsive male inmate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Custody staff and jail medical staff immediately administered life-saving measures. Medical response personnel also responded, assumed life-saving measures and the inmate was transported to <strong>Baptist Memorial Hospital<\/strong>. Ultimately, medical personnel pronounced the male inmate deceased at approximately 6:20 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office Investigators<\/strong> along with the <strong>Mississippi Bureau of Investigation<\/strong> and the <strong>Mississippi Department of Corrections Investigators<\/strong> responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of death will later be determined by the <strong>Mississippi State Medical Examiner\u2019s Office<\/strong>.
