Rebels Begin Indoor Campaign at Vanderbilt on January 13-14<\/em>, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ole Miss<\/strong> men\u2019s and women\u2019s track & field has finalized its schedule for the upcoming 2023 indoor and outdoor seasons. The Rebels <\/strong>will open its 2023 slate next Friday at Vanderbilt<\/strong>, beginning a seven-meet indoor campaign that ends in March and will roll into an 11-meet schedule outdoors that concludes in June prior to the national and global competition circuits over the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ole Miss looks to build on the success of a historic 2022 that saw three Rebels come away with NCAA Championship<\/strong> titles and ended with the Ole Miss women finishing a program record fifth in the final USTFCCCA Program of the Year<\/strong> standings. The Rebels lost NCAA Champions Mario Garcia Romo<\/strong> (indoor mile) and Sintayehu Vissa<\/strong> (outdoor 1500-meter) to the professional ranks, but return indoor NCAA weight throw champion Shey Taiwo<\/strong> for her final outdoor season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, Ole Miss returns 12 who earned First or Second-Team status as an All-American in 2022 \u2013 highlighted by reigning NCAA weight throw runner-up Jasmine Mitchell, who begins 2023 ranked third in NCAA history and fifth in world history at her second-place NCAA toss of 24.94m\/81-10 last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rebels also welcome in a powerful class of newcomers. Among numerous highly-touted additions are World U20<\/strong> shot put champion Tarik Robinson-O\u2019Hagan<\/strong>, and middle-distance specialist Cade Flatt<\/strong> \u2013 who won Gatorade National Athlete of the Year<\/strong> for boys track in 2021-22 after clocking the second-fastest 800-meter time in U.S. high school history at 1:46.48.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ole Miss will open the 2023 indoor season with its first of three trips to Vanderbilt, beginning with the Commodore Challenge<\/strong> on Jan. 13-14. The Rebels will return to Nashville <\/strong>the following week for the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 20-21 before the first of three trips to Arkansas <\/strong>this year with the Razorback Invitational<\/strong> on Jan. 27-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a week off at the beginning of February, Ole Miss will split squad at Vanderbilt\u2019s Music City Challenge<\/strong> and Arkansas\u2019 Tyson Invitational<\/strong> \u2013 both set for Feb. 10-11 \u2013 to conclude the indoor regular season. The Rebels will then return to Arkansas for the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 before the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships<\/strong> \u2013 held this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico<\/strong> on March 10-11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rebels will roll right into outdoor season the following week at Auburn\u2019s Tiger Track Classic<\/strong> on March 17-18 before returning home to host the annual Ole Miss Classic<\/strong> on March 24-25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A big split-squad weekend looms next, as Ole Miss will travel to two prestigious spring meets at the Texas Relays<\/strong> (held March 29-April 1) and the Stanford Invitational<\/strong> (March 31-April 1) before returning home for the Joe Walker Invite<\/strong> on April 7-8. Ole Miss will close out April and the outdoor regular season with a trip to UVA <\/strong>for the Virginia Challenge<\/strong> (April 20-22) and another split weekend at Mississippi State\u2019s Maroon & White Invite<\/strong> (April 28) and the LSU Invite<\/strong> (April 29).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rebels will head right back to Baton Rouge<\/strong> two weeks later for the 2023 SEC Outdoor Championships<\/strong> on May 11-13. From there, qualified athletes will compete at the NCAA East Regional<\/strong> at North Florida<\/strong> on May 24-27, and then the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships<\/strong> \u2013 held this year at the University of Texas<\/strong> on June 7-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
