School is well underway, and temperatures finally have dropped from the swelter of summer. Fall officially began September 22, so if you haven\u2019t already taken advantage of Lafayette County<\/strong>\u2019s autumn fun, here are a few opportunities to enjoy the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Trick-or-treat with the Oxford Park Commission and the Lafayette County Multi-Purpose Arena.<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Oxford Park Commission<\/strong> is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat<\/strong> event on October 21 and invites families to bring their vehicles with trunks decorated to the Oxford Activity Center<\/strong> parking lot. OPC also encourages businesses are to participate in the festivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 28, Family Crisis Services of Northwest Mississippi<\/strong><\/a> is hosting a Halloween Spooktacular Safestop<\/strong><\/a> at the Lafayette County Multi-Purpose Arena<\/strong>. This fun, free activity will provide candy and information to children and families in the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Explore Lafayette County\u2019s numerous parks and trails.<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The South Campus Rail Trail<\/strong>, formerly known as \u201cThe Whirlpool Trails,\u201d is one of the county\u2019s most beloved outdoor recreation spots. This five-mile-long round-trip gravel railroad bed makes for an easy walk, jog or bike ride. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of Lafayette County\u2019s parks have playgrounds, tracks, gardens, pavilions, grills and picnic areas for you and your loved ones to gather and play. For a full list of parks and facilities, visit the Oxford Park Commission website.<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Take up a sport with friends and family.<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The basketball and tennis courts located at Lafayette County\u2019s various parks are free and open to the public. However, you also may be interested in classes and tournaments hosted by the Oxford Park Commission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fall, individuals of all ages can register to play tennis, dodgeball, pickleball and fencing. OPC also is hosting League of Champion<\/strong> tennis for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Visit the pumpkin patch at St. Peter\u2019s Episcopal Church.<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bring your loved ones to St. Peter\u2019s Episcopal Church<\/strong><\/a> to take photos and pick a pumpkin! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For over two decades, the St. Peter\u2019s has hosted its pumpkin patch to raise money for the church\u2019s youth programs. This year, the pumpkins will arrive the first week of October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are interested in giving back to the community, consider volunteering to help work the event this fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall is in full swing! Lafayette County is home to seasonal activities for people of all ages.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
