Founded in the winter of 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic washed across America and the rest of the world, Sir Rod & The Blues Doctors<\/strong> are a joyous, unlikely ensemble\u2014a three-man brotherhood dedicated to the project of keeping alive the vibrant sounds and spirit of blues master Sterling \u201cMr. Satan\u201d Magee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta<\/strong>-based singer \u201cSir Rod\u201d Patterson<\/strong> is Magee\u2019s nephew; harmonica player\/percussionist Adam Gussow<\/strong> was Magee\u2019s partner for more than three decades (1986\u20132018) in the Harlem<\/strong> blues duo Satan & Adam<\/strong>, featured in a Netflix<\/strong>-screened documentary by the same name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Mississippi blues veteran Alan Gross<\/strong> on guitar (and his homemade cigar-box guitars), Sir Rod & The Blues Doctors released their debut record, Come Together<\/em><\/strong>, to rave reviews in the summer of 2020. In 2022, they released a new live album, Keeping It in the Family<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based in Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>, for the past twenty years, Adam Gussow, who has been called \u201cone of the world\u2019s finest blues harmonica players,\u201d is acknowledged by his peers as a contemporary master; his one-man-band version of \u201cCrossroads Blues\u201d has drawn raves (and more than four million views) on YouTube<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
