The event will also serve as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the <strong>Yoknapatawpha Arts Council (YAC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guests on The Grove show will include bestselling authors <strong>Aimee Nezhukumatathil<\/strong> and <strong>Taylor Brown<\/strong>, plus singer-songwriter <strong>Kate Teague<\/strong> and Oxford rock band, <strong>Madrik<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The show is hosted by <strong>Jim Dees<\/strong> and Thacker house band, <strong>The Yalobushwhackers<\/strong>, led by guitarist <strong>Paul Tate<\/strong>. Admission is free and lawn chairs and picnics are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This show will not be broadcast live but will be recorded for air this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the radio show at 7 pm, Madrik will play a 45-minute set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Summer Sunset Series is a community event made possible through a collaboration of <strong>Visit Oxford<\/strong>, Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, <strong>The Center for the Study of Southern Culture<\/strong>, <strong>The University of Mississippi Museum<\/strong>, <strong>The Ford Center for Performing Arts<\/strong>, <strong>The Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>, and the <strong>Mississippi Arts Commission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upcoming concerts in the series include :June 12, <strong>Bill Perry Quintet<\/strong>; June 19, <strong>Alice Hasen &amp; The Blaze<\/strong>; June 26, <strong>Aaron Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aimee Nezhukumatathil is the author of the memoir <strong><em>World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments<\/em><\/strong> (Milkweed Editions). Aheartfelt collection of essays in praise of the natural world, the slender volume became something of a phenomenon, spending weeks on the <strong><em>New York Times<\/em><\/strong> bestseller\u2019s list and named the Book of the Year by <strong>Barnes &amp;Noble<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>World of Wonders<\/em> was also named a Book of the Year by the<em>New York Times<\/em>, <strong><em>NPR<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Smithsonian<\/em><\/strong>Magazine, <strong><em>Lit Hub<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Indie Next<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Esquire<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Garden &amp; Gun<\/em><\/strong><em>, <\/em>and <strong>The New York Public Library<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nezhukumatathil writes poetry, stories,and essays and is professor of English and Creative Writing in the University of Mississippi\u2019s MFA program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taylor Brown<\/strong>\u2019s latest novel is <strong><em>Wingwalkers<\/em><\/strong> (St. Martin\u2019s Press), an epic historical novel about a female wingwalker and her husband, a former World War I ace pilot, and their journey across Depression-era America performing acts of aerial daring. During a 1934 visit to Mardi Gras in <strong>New Orleans<\/strong>, they encounter a young <strong>William Faulkner<\/strong>, mirroring a real-life incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown spins this chance meeting into a joyride of a novel in which he gives voice (flight?) to Faulkner and his brother <strong>Dean Swift<\/strong> as well as their beloved <strong>Mammie Callie<\/strong> and father Murry. Skeptical Oxford townsfolk are also heard cracking wise about the fanciful Faulkner, deriding him as \u201cCount No Count.\u201d Brown lives in <strong>Savannah, Georgia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
