Thomas Hayes Mayo<\/strong>, 21, died on Thursday, April 14, 2022, in Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>. Visitation will be held Monday, April 18, 2022, from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm in West Hall<\/strong> at Waller Funeral Home<\/strong>. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm at St. Peter\u2019s Episcopal Church<\/strong> with The Reverend Jody Burnett<\/strong> officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Oxford Memorial Cemetery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Memphis, Tennessee<\/strong>, on April 2, 2001, Thomas was a junior at the University of Mississippi<\/strong> and a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The youngest of four children, Thomas never wanted for or shied from attention. He loved his family, his friends, and life. Thomas never met a stranger. His amazing smile and genuine interest in people broke down all barriers. He seldom uttered negative words or thoughts about anyone. He saw good everywhere and in everybody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas is survived by his parents, Cal<\/strong> and Caroline Mayo<\/strong> of Oxford; his sister Virginia Coan<\/strong> and her husband Fletcher<\/strong>, along with his nephew and namesake, Hayes Fletcher Coan<\/strong>, of Atlanta, Georgia<\/strong>; his brother William Mayo<\/strong> and his wife Caroline <\/strong>of Atlanta, Georgia; and his sister Callie Mayo<\/strong> and her fianc\u00e9 Quinn McCarthy<\/strong> of Nashville<\/strong>, Tennessee. He is also survived by his grandmother, Stella Salmon<\/strong> of Oxford. Thomas was loved by and loved in return his aunts, uncles, and cousins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas also leaves his girlfriend, Georgia Hippe<\/strong>, of Atlanta, Georgia, and other friends too numerous to list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contributions in Thomas\u2019 memory may be made to the William Magee Center<\/strong> at the University of Mississippi or the James <\/strong>and Sandra Mayo<\/strong> Scholarship Endowment<\/strong> at the University of Mississippi Foundation<\/strong>, 406 University Avenue, Oxford, MS 38655 or to St. Peter\u2019s Episcopal Church, 113 S. 9th Street, Oxford, MS 38655.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
