Parents and teachers are her target market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inspiration for the book came from multiple friends in her network who are having kids in a time where knowledge of public health is crucial for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I was thinking about kids&#8217; books about public health and how this was another way to make public health accessible to more people,&#8221; Zigmont said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book provides a creative platform to educate and entertain children, said <strong>Allison Ford-Wade<\/strong>, associate dean of community engagement and professor of public health in the UM <strong>School of Applied Sciences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Dr. Zigmont&#8217;s love for public health is evident in her new children&#8217;s book, as she provides a fun introduction to the field of public health,&#8221; Ford-Wade said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zigmont chose to pursue a career in public health to help others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;At one time I may have wanted to be an M.D., but realized I can help more people by doing high-quality public health research,&#8221; she explained. &#8220;My focus is on making the next generation of public health researchers.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While this is Zigmont&#8217;s first book, she promises that it is not her last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides her teaching, Zigmont also is director of\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hesrm.olemiss.edu\/epidemiology-and-translational-research-lab\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Epidemiology and Translational Research Laboratory<\/strong><\/a>, which focuses on projects aimed at understanding the epidemiology of chronic disease prevention across the lifespan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My research is in epidemiology, primarily in chronic diseases and food insecurity,&#8221; Zigmont said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/TheLocalVoiceLigature-25web.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"16\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/TheLocalVoiceLigature-25web.jpg?resize=25%2C16\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14544\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Women-In-Leadership-750-1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"359\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Women-In-Leadership-750-1.jpg?resize=640%2C359\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-118679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Women-In-Leadership-750-1.jpg?w=750&amp;ssl=1 750w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Women-In-Leadership-750-1.jpg?resize=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>The Women in Leadership panel included some of Oxford&#8217;s most successful business leaders and educators: (from left) Timber Heard, of Talitha Kumi Jewels; Erin Holmes, of the UM School of Pharmacy; Kate Newman, of Style Assembly; Catherine Hultman, for the Gertrude C.
