On September 30, 2021, at approximately 5:21 pm, the Oxford Police Department<\/strong> responded to a call in the 400 block of Saddle Creek Drive<\/strong> for a reported disturbance that escalated into a shot being fired. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers located the suspect, later identified as Paul Rice<\/strong>, 26, of Oxford<\/strong>, Mississippi <\/strong>and took Rice into custody\u00a0without incident. The victim, later identified as Quintin McDonald<\/strong>, 29, of Como<\/strong>, was struck one time and subsequently died from injuries related to the gunshot wound. Rice was charged with First\u00a0Degree Murder<\/strong>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jermaine Cox<\/strong>, 40, of Oxford was charged with Tampering with Evidence and Possession of Weapon by a Convicted Felon. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rice was issued a $1,000,000 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court<\/strong> judge. Cox was issued a $100,000 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court judge. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
