This grant is a portion of the $1.3 million in grants the Commission will award in 2020-2021 and has been used to fund the creation of three large paintings for public display celebrating <strong>African American Culture<\/strong>. The grants are made possible by continued funding from the <strong>Mississippi State Legislature<\/strong> and the <strong>National Endowment for the Arts<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are excited to announce the winners of our <strong>Black Culture Celebration<\/strong> community project, a mural design contest <strong>\u201cPaint The Joint\u201d<\/strong>. Ms. Gulledge\u2019s painting is on display at <strong>GraceLand Too<\/strong>, 200 E Gholson Ave., Ms. Myers\u2019 work will be on view at <strong>Mr. Caldwell\u2019s Aikei Pro&#8217;s Record Shop<\/strong>, 125 N.Center Street. Mr. Carter is presently installing his mural of lifelong Holly Springs residents internationally celebrated <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kimbroughcottonpatchsoulbluesfestival.com\">Cotton Patch Soul Blues Legends<\/a> David \u201cJunior\u201d Kimbrough<\/strong> and his sons <strong>David Jr. 3rd<\/strong>, <strong>Kinney<\/strong>, and <strong>Robert Sr<\/strong>. The mural is located in <strong>Blues Alley<\/strong> at E. Matching funds for our community project were provided by <strong>FANCY!<\/strong>. This project is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and in part, from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, serves the residents of the state by providing grants that support programs to enhance communities; assist artists and arts organizations; promote the arts in education; and celebrate Mississippi\u2019s cultural heritage.\u00a0 Established in 1968, the Mississippi Arts Commission is funded by the Mississippi Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts, the <strong>Mississippi Endowment for the Arts<\/strong> at the <strong>Community Foundation for Mississippi<\/strong> and other private sources.
