What brought you to the area?<\/strong><\/span> Taylor kept telling me about Yokna Bottom\u2019s bountiful living soil.<\/p>\n

How did you get started in agriculture?<\/strong><\/span> My family\u2019s 2400 acre conventional farm.<\/p>\n

What is a typical work day like?<\/strong><\/span> Up before sun. Lots of fresh breaths and coffee. Feed kids, chickens, and dogs. Then rally the troops, breathe deeply, and take care of the day\u2019s work. Best times are end of day when my kids are happily in my arms. And dinner\u2019s never boring around here.<\/p>\n

What do you do on a rainy day?<\/strong><\/span> Inside work followed by lots of porch time.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the best thing about working on your farm?<\/strong><\/span> Standing on living soil all day long<\/p>\n

What are you most proud of this year so far?<\/strong><\/span> My two beautiful children playing with me in the dirt.<\/p>\n

What are you most looking forward to this season?<\/strong><\/span> An abundance of quality produce<\/p>\n

Funniest \/ strangest thing that has happened on the farm lately:<\/strong><\/span> Random dog chasing deer through 8 foot game fence into garden.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite vegetable?<\/strong><\/span> Tomatoes<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite insect?<\/strong><\/span> Praying mantis<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite music to listen to while digging in the ground?<\/strong><\/span> 80\u2019s Grateful Dead with Brent Mydland, Yonder Mountain String Band, or quality Texas country<\/p>\n

Ever dug up (or found) anything strange \/ interesting \/ valuable?<\/strong><\/span> Live 50 caliber round with dent.<\/p>\n

Name an uncommon vegetable that people should try:<\/strong><\/span> Purple Tomatillo<\/p>\n

Tell us one thing about farming that most people probably don\u2019t know:<\/strong><\/span> America sprays too much.<\/p>\n

Is there anything you\u2019d like to see change about the way food is consumed in our community?<\/strong><\/span> Eat local, y\u2019all.<\/p>\n

Name one piece of equipment you could not live without:<\/strong><\/span> Walk-behind tractor with rotary plow and 22\u201d tires.<\/p>\n

Tell us one thing you\u2019ve learned that you didn\u2019t know when you first started farming:<\/strong><\/span> You can listen to Broccoli grow just as you can with corn.<\/p>\n

What is the best meal you\u2019ve ever eaten?<\/strong><\/span> Anne Marie\u2019s Chicken fried tofu with Brown\u2019s milk gravy and homemade biscuits, with Yokna Bottoms Farm collard greens, fried okra, sweet potatoes.<\/p>\n
