The show, bowing to COVID restrictions, put together each broadcast in-studio with host <strong>Jim Dees<\/strong> interviewing authors by phone and using recorded musical performances, including those by the show\u2019s house band, <strong>The Yalobushwhackers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thacker producer <strong>Alice Pierotti<\/strong> said the show survived thanks to grants and a summer fundraising campaign that raised $25,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to have been able to put together twelve more radio shows to add some joy and a sense of normalcy to 2020,\u201d Pierotti said. \u201cWe appreciate all the love and support that kept us going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now the show is adapting its annual holiday fundraiser\u2014normally a well-attended party at<strong> Southside Gallery<\/strong>\u2014to an online event,<strong> \u201cWish You Were Here.\u201d<\/strong> The show has assembled holiday goodie bags that are now available in exchange for donations at the show\u2019s website, <a href=\"https:\/\/thackermountain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/thackermountain.com\/<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The various \u201cGoodies\u201d include local art, custom-made Thacker coasters, T-shirts, caps and tote bags, plus cocktail recipes and an original photograph of <strong>Rolling Stones<\/strong>\u2019 front man, <strong>Mick Jagger<\/strong>, by noted photographer <strong>Dick Waterman<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Memberships can be purchased for $20 for students, $50 for individuals and $75 for family\/partners. Authors to be featured in the coming weeks include Pulitzer Prize-winner <strong>Rick Bragg<\/strong>, acclaimed novelist <strong>Way\u00e9tu Moore<\/strong>, \u201cSean of the South\u201d essayist, <strong>Sean Dietrich<\/strong>, and <strong>Willie Morris Award For Fiction<\/strong> nominee, <strong>Margaret Wilkerson Sexton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musical guests will include the <strong>Memphis Ukulele Band<\/strong>, Americana songwriter <strong>Will Kimbrough<\/strong>, Memphis jazz-soul guitarist <strong>Joe Restivo<\/strong> and gospel powerhouse <strong>Elizabeth King<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The schedule will be updated frequently on the show\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour<\/em> is broadcast every Thursday at 6 pm on <strong>WUMS (92.1 FM)<\/strong> in <strong>Oxford<\/strong>.
