Performances are <span style=\"color: #004eff;\"><strong>Wednesday, November 20 through Friday, November 22 at 7:30 pm in Meek Auditorium on the Ole Miss campus<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Ole Miss Theatre Arts faculty member<strong> Jennifer Mizenko<\/strong> is the Artistic Director of the concert.\u00a0 One piece, \u201cThe Crosby Arboretum Project,\u201d is a collaboration between Mizenko and <strong>Allen Arriv\u00e9e<\/strong>, Assistant Professor of Cinema at Ole Miss. The pair travelled to Picayune to visit The Crosby Arboretum and specifically the Pinecote Pavilion designed by <strong>E. Fay Jones<\/strong>, renowned architect and designer to film dance pieces. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cFor Crosby we were working in a genre called dance on camera, which is creating a film that is the dance piece. In dance on camera, the editor of the film is as much the choreographer as the actual dance choreographer. What sets \u201cThe Crosby Arboretum Project\u201d apart is the live dance performance live in front of the film,\u201d said Professor Mizenko. The dancers for the piece are Mizenko, <strong>Brad Howard<\/strong>, and <strong>Roxie Thomas<\/strong>. Howard and Thomas are both former students of Professor Mizenko.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Dance-Co2.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"520\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10608\" alt=\"Dance Co2\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Dance-Co2.jpg?resize=600%2C520\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Dance-Co2.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Dance-Co2.jpg?resize=300%2C260&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Another piece entitled \u201cThe Unforgiving Minute\u201d is based on the <em>New York Times<\/em> Bestseller of the same name by <strong>Craig M. Mullaney<\/strong> and is choreographed by Mizenko.\u201d \u201cThe Unforgiving Minute\u201d is a big narrative and felt like the piece needed a more centralized theme so I narrowed it down to leadership and what it is like to be a leader,\u201d says Mizenko. \u201cI had a chance to interview Mullaney when he was on campus back in early August. We discussed leadership and I had a chance to hear his really physical description of what leadership truly entails.\u201d She continued, \u201cThe piece encompasses many aspects of the book from combat to Mullaney\u2019s courtship of his girlfriend while trying to become a Rhodes Scholar. The dances are comprised of three men and three women. The women are dressed in combat clothes but all on point shoes to signify the strength and delicacy to takes to be a leader.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">One guest piece, by <strong>Daryl Foster<\/strong> from Atlanta, Georgia, was sent last Spring on Ole Miss Student Dance and will be revived for this concert. There are pieces individually choreographed by Brad Howard and Roxie Thomas. <strong>Jade Genga<\/strong> and <strong>Bailey Baker<\/strong>, both talented Seniors in the Ole Miss Theatre program, also choreographed pieces. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u00a0\u201cBreaking Boundaries features a wide variety of dance styles. The music in the pieces range from opera to Simon &amp; Garfunkel to Bollywood to modern pop music,\u201d said Mizenko. \u201cThere is definitely something for everybody.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; color: #004eff;\"><strong>The concert is approximately ninety minutes with no intermission. It is family friendly and parents are encouraged to bring their children.
