The Local Voice<\/em> is excited to announce internships available. We are an independently owned local entertainment guide and newspaper published in Oxford, Mississippi. Interns will assist in various aspects of producing the newspaper, including online & social media content. Interns are expected to dedicate about 4\u20136 hours a week to this project. The internship is unpaid, but will provide excellent experience and reference material, and college credit may be available for those who qualify.<\/p>\n

POTENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Data collection, e.g., music listings, local events, food & drink specials
\n\u2022 Perform editorial duties such as proofreading, fact checking, and research
\n\u2022 Update and promote social media outlets
\n\u2022 Handle writing assignments as needed. Topics will include, but are not limited to: music, sports, local culture, dining, and nightlife
\n\u2022 Produce written copy for advertising
\n\u2022 Conduct interviews with local personalities
\n\u2022 Photography
\n\u2022 Maintain flexibility by assuming other duties and responsibilities as assigned<\/p>\n

QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Current student of a Journalism, English, Marketing, or other relevant
\nprogram
\n\u2022 Possess interest in journalism, public relations, social media, or advertising
\n\u2022 Have access to reliable transportation
\n\u2022 Have excellent written and oral communication skills
\n\u2022 Maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and creativity
\n\u2022 Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
\n\u2022 Ability to multi-task
\n\u2022 Have excellent organization skills
\n\u2022 Working knowledge of social media tools
\n\u2022 Must have some familiarity with Oxford, Ole Miss, and The Local Voice<\/em>
\n\u2022 Some design experience a plus but not necessary<\/p>\n
