WTF News: McConaughey to Party in Oxford Texas Weekend

McConaughey to Party in Oxford Texas Weekend

Hollywood film star and noted University of Texas fan Matthew McConaughey has rented the National Center for Natural Products Research for a Texas-Ole Miss after party.

Town officials say the actor was rumored to be in talks with City Grocery owner John Currence, but ultimately decided not to use the balcony, citing the restaurant’s lack of “proper ingredients for this bodacious occasion.” Though Ole Miss Chancellor Danny Jones is confused as to why McConaughey would want to host a party in an on-campus venue, he says he is proud to showcase the university’s state-of-the-art research complex.

“This is high times for a university that continually succeeds in illuminating the vast resources and world-class facilities we have to offer,” Jones said.

The 2,400 square-foot structure will host approximately 500 of McConaughey’s closest friends and buds on Saturday night following the football matchup. No musical group has been announced as the night’s official entertainment, though numerous local bands have volunteered to play for free or party favors.

Fans of the Dazed and Confused star are already flooding his Twitter feed, begging to be included on the guest list. Event organizers report that almost any female is eligible to be invited as long they are in high school or have stayed the same age. Not all Oxford residents are pleased with the upcoming festivities. Some potential attendees have stressed that the party might be “too sick.”

“Nonsense,” says Jones. “This is a medical research facility. If anyone becomes ill, there will be plenty of medicinal products to go around.”
