Woman in Critical Condition After Being Shot in Head at University Trails

OXFORD, MISS (OPD) – At approximately 12:22 am on August 24, 2017 the Oxford Police Department received a 911 call about a female who had been shot at the University Trails apartment complex. When officers arrived they found the victim sitting on the balcony with a gunshot wound to the head. At the time of their arrival she was conscious and talking with officers. The victim was transported to The Med in Memphis via Hospital Wing. She is in critical condition at this time.  

The caller, D’Marius Madkins, 28 of Oxford, Mississippi, also the victim’s boyfriend, was taken into custody on scene. The weapon believed to be used in the shooting was recovered at the apartment. Madkins will be formally charged later this afternoon.
