Water Spaniel Release Sky Funeral

It’s not Water Spaniel’s first proper release, but it certainly feels like their most realized. The Cleveland-based heavy psych band recorded Sky Funeral from summer of 2015 until the beginning of this year at bassist Jesse Manfield’s basement studio in Memphis. Water Spaniel promised “more ambience, more terror, more serenity, [and] more uneasiness” on this record. These traits are evident immediately in the 12-minute opener “Black Planet/Mega Blocks,” which pushes their sprawling, alluring music into some experimental sonic territory.
