Oxford, Mississippi Man Charged with Domestic Violence – Aggravated Assault after Shooting Leads to Standoff with Police Department

On Monday, December 16, 2019, at approximately 1:30 am, officers with the Oxford Police Department responded the emergency department at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi for a person who had a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Around 2:00 am, the suspect, Jodie Jacobs (36 of Oxford, Mississippi) was located at his residence at Countryview Village off of Anchorage Road. Officers set up around the house and began negotiating his safe surrender.

The Oxford Police Department Crisis Negotiators were able to talk Jacobs safely out of the house at 6:40 am. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Jacobs has been charged with domestic violence – aggravated assault and is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
