Whitney White is from Oxford, Mississippi, but she grew up in Water Valley. In December of 2017, Whitney graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and a minor in architecture. She is currently a photo editor and photographer administrator assistant in Olive Branch, Mississippi, for an e-commerce supply company. She has also been working with organizations on architecture projects for the community and her own photography business, Whitney White Photography and Graphics.
Outside of work, Whitney has continued her artwork in her free time. She usually works behind the camera, but with this series, Intellectual Life Giving, she decided to take different route. Intellectual Life Giving is meaning the understanding of subjects around you that can create something so beautiful and unique. This series of 8” X 10” photographs are lumen prints, which is “a solar photogram—a camera-less process involving black and white photographic paper.” These prints were developed using the sunlight, which is why Whitney urges her viewers to stop and study the images and the various elements used in each photograph.
