Ole Miss Football Forecast: Texas A&M
The Ole Miss football season took a devastating blow in the game against Georgia Southern. The Rebels lost both quarterback Chad Kelly and defensive end John Youngblood for the season. Youngblood was a defensive leader and 2016 Chucky Mullen Award Winner.
The biggest lost though was that of Kelly. Kelly was considered by most the best quarterback in the SEC. He was what made the Rebels’ offense go. It will be difficult for Coach Hugh Freeze to replace the offensive output that Kelly provides. However, he will have to figure it out quickly because the team travels to College Station to face Texas A&M.
Coach Freeze is giving red-shirt freshman Jason Pellerin most of the reps with the first team offense. So it looks as if he may get the start. The Aggies may be without their starting QB as well. At the time of this writing, it is unknown as to whether Trevor Knight will be on the field. He was injured during their loss to Mississippi State. A&M has been one of the best teams in the league all year. Their loss to the Bulldogs put a black mark on their year.
However, their team is still good. They have weapons at all the skill positions. Defensively they have a sack machine in defensive end Myles Garrett. Although Garrett has been hobbled, against a young Ole Miss offensive line he still can be a hand full.
