Ice Skating Rink to be Set Up on the Oxford, Mississippi Square December 15, 2012

On Saturday, December 15, the Oxford Downtown Council will bring a first to Oxford, Mississippi:  ice skating on the Square! From 9 am to 5 pm, an artificial ice rink will be set up in front of City Hall, with free admission and no charge for ice skate rental. “The Council enjoyed an unprecedented turnout for our November 23rd Holiday Open House,” says Mark Huelse, president of the Oxford Downtown Council. “When the opportunity arose to have an ice rink on the Square, we knew it would be a truly one-of-a-kind experience we could offer.”

The eco-friendly ice rink will be installed and staffed by Artificial Ice Events, the nation’s largest synthetic ice rental company. Says Aj Paradis, ice technician for the company, “Nothing is more nostalgic than people ice skating during the holiday season. It’s great seeing young and old, experienced or beginner smile as they skate on our ice.”

Huelse continues, “Our hope is to continue to bring special, family-friendly activities such as this to Oxford.”
