Efta-Mexico Free Trade Agreement

In addition, bilateral agricultural agreements have been concluded between the various EFTA countries and Mexico, which are part of the instruments for the creation of the free trade area. The Mexico-EFTA Free Trade Agreement was signed in Mexico City on 27 November 2000. The agreement provides for effective market access for industrial products as regards customs duties and rules of origin. Mexico has progressively liberalized all industrial products (Annex V). In return, until the entry into force of the Agreement (Annex IV), EFTA grants duty-free access to Mexican exports of all industrial products. The objectives of the Agreement (Article 1) include the progressive liberalization of trade in goods in accordance with Article XXIV of the GATT and the liberalization of trade in services in accordance with Article V of the GATS. .
