Notice that certain commission members will be included in the meeting via teleconference, subject to City of Oxford Code of Ordinances Section 2-82.

  1. Call to order.
  2. Adopt the agenda for the meeting.
  3. Mayor’s Report
  4. Authorize the approval of the minutes of the Recess Meeting on August 20, 2018, the Regular Meeting on August 21, 2018, the Recess Meeting on August 22, 2018, the Special Meeting on August 24, 2018 and the Special Meeting on August 29, 2018.
  5. Authorize the approval of accounts for all city departments.
  6. Consider the consent agenda:
    1. Request permission for an alderman to attend the 2018 MML Small Town Conference on October 23-25, 2018 in Vicksburg, MS at an estimated cost of $685.00. (Ashley Atkinson)
    2. Request permission for two employees to attend the CSA Financial Conference on November 14-16, 2018 in Nashville, TN at an estimated cost of $1,835.00. (Rob Neely)
    3. Request permission for an engineer to attend Landis and Gyr RF metering workshop in Lavergne, TN on October 9-10, 2018 at an estimated cost of $310.00. (Rob Neely)
    4. Request permission to approve the following taxi drivers for the noted companies: Teresa L. Covington, Williams T. Gibbons, Angela K. Kendricks, and Ryan D. Appel for Flying Tuk and Rodney S. Knighton for Oxford Taxi. (Matt Davis)
    5. Request permission for Ashley Byrd to intern at the Oxford Police Department for the Fall 2018 semester. (Joey East)
    6. Consider the Oxford-University Fire Protection Agreement as approved by the IHL. (Pope Mallette)
    7. Request permission to advertise for Seasonal Concession Workers for FNC Park. (Braxton Tullos)
    8. Request permission to promote a Part-time employee at FNC Park. (Braxton Tullos)
    9. Request permission to hire seasonal workers in the Environmental Services Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    10. Request permission to accept the resignation of two reserve officers in the Oxford Police Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    11. Request permission to hire four part-time officers in the Oxford Police Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    12. Request permission for the Training Director to travel to teach for the state training grant from October 1, 2018- September 30th, 2019, in accordance with the requirements of the program. (Joey East)
    13. Request permission for two OFD employees to attend the Firehouse Expo in Nashville, TN, on October 16- 20, 2018, at an estimated cost of $1,342.00. (Mark Heath)
  7. Adopt a retirement proclamation for Jeff McClure with the Oxford Housing Authority.
  8. Adopt a retirement proclamation for Lt. Steve Lewis in the Oxford Police Department.
  9. Request permission to sell Lt. Steve Lewis his service weapon for $1 as allowed by state statute.
  10. Update from Early Reading Coordinator for the Oxford School District.
  11. Adopt a proclamation for Attendance Awareness Month.
  12. Public hearing for the FY 2018-2019 City of Oxford Budget.
  13. Request permission to authorize the Mayor to sign a contract with MDOT for the County Transit Program as administered through RSVP. (Arledia Bennett)

  15. Consider a request from the Lafayette County School District regarding building permits. (Bart Robinson)

  17. Fourth reading and vote on a proposed ordinance amending Chapter 14, Establishing Article IV, Sections 14-100-12-103; Regulation and Safety of Patrons and Employees of Restaurants, Bars and Similar Businesses, Including Event Venues. (Pope Mallette/Joey East)
  18. Request permission to advertise and sell abandoned vehicles on govdeals.com. (Joey East)
  19. Request permission to surplus a trash compactor and authorize its sale through GovDeals. (Amberlyn Liles)

  24. Second reading and public hearing on a proposed ordinance for Case #2349-Consideration of Amendments to the City of Oxford Land Development Code to correct mistakes and make modifications. (JudyDaniel)
  25. Request permission to surplus miscellaneous computer equipment and authorize its disposal. (Christopher Simmons)
  26. Accept an easement from Arbors, LLC for a waterline. (Bart Robinson)
