City of Oxford, Mississippi Board of Aldermen Agenda for Tuesday, August 16, 2016 – 5:00 pm

Notice that certain aldermen will be included in the meeting via teleconference, subject to City of Oxford Code of Ordinances Section 2-82.

  1. Call to order.
  2. Adopt the agenda for the meeting.
  3. Mayor’s Report.
  4. Authorize approval of minutes of the regular meeting on August 2, 2016.
  5. Authorize approval of accounts for all city departments.
  6. Consider consent agenda:
    1. Request permission  for one communications officer to attend required state recertification course on September 9-10, 2016 in Grenada, MS at an estimated cost of $225.00. (Joey East)
    2. Request permission to promote one employee to sergeant in the Police Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    3. Request permission to hire a seasonal employee in the Environmental Services Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    4. Request permission to promote three part-time employees at FNC Park. (Braxton Tullos)
    5. Request permission to hire a seasonal laborer in the Buildings and Grounds Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    6. Request permission to employ a Water/Wastewater Tech I in the Public Works Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    7. Request permission for the Superintendent to attend NMPPA/WDMA Joint Meeting in Counce, TN  on October 13-14, 2016 at an estimated cost of $277.50. (Rob Neely)
    8. Request permission for an Engineer to attend NERC Compliance Training in Jackson, TN on September 1, 2016 at an estimated cost of $199.00. (Rob Neely)
    9. Request permission for an Apprentice Lineman to attend TVPPA Apprentice Lineman Training in Jackson, TN on August 22-24, 2016 at an estimated cost of $1,963.27. (Rob Neely)
    10. Request permission for an alderman to attend the 2016 Small Town Conference on October 12-13, 2016 in Natchez at an estimated cost of $200.00. (Ashley Atkinson)
  7. Authorize an appointment to the Oxford Planning Commission.
  8. Authorize appointments to the Historic Properties Commission.
  9. Announce a public hearing for the FY2017 budget to be held on September 6, 2016. (Ashley Atkinson)

  11. Request permission to accept a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield for the Oxford Police Department. (Jeff McCutchen)
  12. Request permission to amend FY2017 budget to purchase a used bucket truck. (Rob Neely)
  13. First reading of a proposed ordinance amending Section 102, Article XXI regarding residential parking districts. (Matt Davis)
  14. Request permission to accept the FY2015 annual audit for the Oxford Park Commission. (Seth Gaines)
  15. Request permission for the Oxford Park Commission to charge for game day parking in the Activity Center, Stone Center, and Oxford Park Commission lots. (Seth Gaines)
  16. Request approval for a Preliminary Plat for Isom Hill Subdivision. (Judy Daniel)
